Question

the to of a shoebox has an area of 84 square inche. The volume of the shoebhox is 546 cubic inches.how tall is the shoebox?

We know the formula for area of a rectangle (that is, the lid of the shoebox) is length x width = 84 in²

 

We also know the volume of a rectangular prism is length x width x height = 546 in³

 

The only difference in the 2 numbers is the height component.

 

So, height = (546 / 84) inches = 6.5 inches
