In WWII the government needed to ration food, gas, and supplies in support of the war effort. The Federal Government felt that at this time they needed to control the supply and demand chains. ("World War II Rationing, n.d.) They implemented the rationing program to prevent anger among the citizens. The rationing program was designed to affect the wealthy, middle class, and poor. The American people came together and created scrap drives, victory gardens, and provided lessons on how to shop wisely to supply the troops adequately.
