jake needs to read 9 pages a day for 6 days to finish a book. he already read 38pages. how many pages total are in jakes book? write and equation using ,n, to show the total numbers of pages in the book

The total number of pages in the book, which is "n", is equal to the number of pages read plus the number of pages to be read.  Since Jake has already read 38 pages and Jake needs to read 9x6 pages to finish, then

 

              n = 38 + (9x6) = 38 + 54 = 92
