In a murky lake ,the intensity of light is reduced by 5% for every meter that the light travels below the surface of the water.What percent of the original light intensity remains at a depth of 2 meters below the surface?

Let I(d) be the intensity of the light at depth d and let I₀ be the original light intensity at the surface

 

I(d) = I₀*(1-0.05)^d = I₀*(0.95)^d

 

At d = 2 meters:

 

I(2) = I₀*(0.95)²

I(2)/I₀ = (0.95)²

I(2)/I₀ = 0.9025 = 90.25%
