what is x to the fifth power multiplied by x

the question in my math book says to simplify each expression. the problem is x^5 x x

Christine A.

When you have x raised to the power you would add for multiplication (or subtract for division). Your question appears different.
(x^5) * (x^1) we would add the exponents x^(5+1) which gives you x^6

Clearly, it is x^5 * x      [PLZ consider keyboard vs. handwritten characters].

Also,    x5 * x             [note:  If Algebra doesn't confuse you, notation certainly will.]
