First thing, is to remember the order of operations, and then remember that we want to get "x" alone in order to solve the equation.

Remember Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication/Division, Addition/Subtraction. You need to deal with the "8" and the parentheses, then later you can do your regular solving process.
