To find two numbers that multiply to -70, we can think about whether each of the numbers will be positive or negative. The only way to multiply two numbers and get a negative product is when you have one negative and one positive number. Since these numbers have to add up to 3, we know that the positive number will have a larger absolute value (it will be farther away from zero) than the negative number. 7 and 10 multiply to 70, but if we take -7 and 10, we get -7·10 = -70 and -7+10 = 3.
