subtract their absolute values and use the sign of the number with the greater absolute value (or use the sign of the number farthest away from zero on the number line)
44+(-11)=l44l-l-11l=44-11=33, now use the positive sign because 44 has the greater absolute value
33 or +33 is the answer but you really don't need the "+" sign
another example:
-36+15=l-36l-l15l=36-15=21, now use the negative sign because -36 has the greater absolute value (is farthest away from zero)
the answer is -21 (you must put in the negative sign !)
