Algebra Math, this is exponential growth and decay practice problem question I need help to answer it and what it's talking about because I do not understand at all.

Ashley, if it decreases by 20%, that means the new population is 80% of the former.

 

If we start off with 25,000, then the next year is 25,000(.8) = 20,000. The next year is 20,000(.8) = 16,000.

 

In other words, year 2 is 25,000(.8)(.8), or 25,000(.8)².

 

If t = the number of years, the model is..

 

P(t) = 25,000(.8)^t
