Finding Linear Velocity

Question

Two points, A and B, are on a sphere of the radius 4000 miles. The angular speed of point A is pi/15 radian per hour. How do I find the Linear velocity of Point A?

Linear velocity = angular velocity * radius of rotation

 

V = w*r = 3.142 * 4000/15 mph = 837.9 miles per hour (mph)

 

 

NB. All linear quantities are always equal to the angular equivalent times the radius.
