d) The 8 in the thousandths place is 1/100 the size of the 8 in the tenths place.
However, the wording is poor; it should say something like the VALUE of the 8 in the thousandths place is one hundredth of the value of an 8 if it were in the tenths place.
You see why? There might have been a 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9 or 0 in the tenths place.
And probably all digits, regardless of where written in any number, are the same SIZE.
