Let x = Number of dogs in competition class
y = Number of dogs in agility class
and we know,
22 =Number of dogs in obedience class
Assuming, each dog is enrolled in only one class,
Total dogs enrolled = x + y + 22
So, x + y + 22 = 58
x + y = 58 - 22 = 36 .......................... (1)
We also know, there are 1/2 as many dogs in competition as there are in agility class.
x = y/2 .......................... (2)
Solving the two equations (1) and (2), we get x= 12, y = 24
So, the number of dogs in each class : 12 - competition, 22 - obedience, 24 - agility
