Im stuck on this scale question!

The length between the bases on a major league base ball diamond is 90 feet. Alvin wants to make a scale drawing of it.if the bases are 2 1/2 inches apart on his scale drawing, what is alvins scale?

First step, convert the unit so the actual and drawing length are identical.  

Convert feet to inch: 1 feet = 12 inches

90 feet = (90 * 12) inches = 1080 inches

 

Scale = ratio in math term

2.5 inches / 1080 inches

1/432
