After a recent election there were 20 more Republican governors than Democratic governors in the U.S. if there are 60 state governers total how many democrats and how many republicans held office?

Areal, the easy way to do this is to find two numbers 20 apart that add up to 60.

 

Otherwise...

 

x + x + 20 = 60

2x = 40

x = 20

 

20 dems and 20+20 = 40 repubs
