A store mixes Kentucky bluegrass worth $11per pound and ryegrass worth $ 14 per pound. The mixture is to sell for $13 per pound. Find how much of each should be used to make a 276-pound mixture.

11b + 14r = 13(276)

 

11(276 - r) + 14r = 13(276)

3036 - 11r + 14r = 3588

3r = 552

r = 184

 

b = 276 - 184 = 92
