You see a highway warning sign that says, “6% downgrade, trucks use lower gear.” Approximately what is a 6% slope, when expressed in degrees?

By the way, in the case of railroads, a 2% grade is already considered to be mountain grade.  So that is a steep slope.

I don't think this is the correct way to look at it, only because a 21o grade would put this among the steepest general traffic streets in the world, and a 6% grade should not correspond to that.
