A square and a rectangle have the same area. If the rectangle has a length of 25 cm and a perimeter of 82 cm, find the length of the square.

82 is all four sides, so you deduct the two 25 cm sides to get the total of the other two sides. the you divide that by 2 to find one side.

 

82 - 50 = 32

Therefor the rectangle is 25 x 16

 

Now find the area of the rectangle, and take the square root to find the length of the square.
