After a recent election there were 4 more Republican governors than Democratic governors in the United States. If there are 50 state governers total howmany democrats and how many republicans held offices after this election?

r = d + 4, right?

 

d + r = 50

 

Now, substitute.

 

d + d + 4 = 50

2d = 46

d = 23

 

r = 23 + 4 = 27
