Evaluate each polynomial for x=2 ,y=-3 , and  z= -4

xy-x²z+yz

(2)(-3)-(2)²(-4)+(-3)(-4)²  ??????

You've taken the right first step by substituting in the given values.  However, I don't see an exponent on z in the original polynomial.  So, it should be:

 

(2)(-3)-(2)²(-4)+(-3)(-4)

(2)(-3)-(4)(-4)+(-3)(-4)  Exponents

-6 - (-16) + 12  Multiplication

-6 + 16 + 12 = 22

 

If the exponent is supposed to be there on z, just make sure to apply the exponent before multiplying.
