Peggy is selling brownies and cookies to raise money. She sold brownies for $3 and cookies for $2.50. If she sold 3 fewer cookies than brownies and collected $218 in all, then how many brownies did she sell?

Let B = No. of brownies

      C = No. of cookies

Given C = B-3

 

Price of brownies = B x 3

Price of Cokies =  Cx 2.5 = (B-3)x2.5

Total collection = Bx3 + (B-3)x2.5 =218

5.5 B = 218 +7.5 = 225.5

So B = 225.5/5.5 = 41 The no. of brownies sold
