In addition to what Diane said,

When converting a percent to a decimal, there are a couple of shortcuts you can use. As Diane said, you can convert from percentage to decimal by dividing by 100. Our number system in decimal allows each digit to have 10 possibilities: 0-9.
The 'point' is shifted 2 places to the left so that
125.%  becomes 1.25 and
45.% becomes 0.45 and
4.3% becomes 0.043 and
354.% becomes 3.54 and
1.% becomes 0.01

When going the other direction, from decimal to percentage,
shift the decimal point two places to the right
0.354 becomes 35.4%
0.0001 becomes 0.01%
4.385423 becomes 438.5423% and
23 becomes 2300%
This is because to shift to percentage, you multiply by 100.

Another important point to note is that the 'number' in a percentage is bigger than the 'number' in the decimal. 125 is bigger than 1.25-- but their values are the same. They are interchangeable, they are equal.
125% = 1.25 and 1.25 = 125%. But always put the bigger number with the percentage form.
