A cell phone tower sends a signal 3 miles in all directions. If you are driving on a raod that goes straight from 3.5 miles north of the tower to a location 4 miles west of the tower, during what percentage of the drive will you be able to pick up a signal from the tower?

When the car travels 3.5 miles north, it will pick up signal during the 3 mi.

When it travels west, again it will pick up signal during the 3 mi.

In total the car drove 3.5+4 == 7 mi

It picked up signal for 3+3=6 mi of the trip

so the percentage of the drive it picked up signal is 6/7 or approximately 86% (rounded)
