Why did "the fighter" of the Italian unification movement cede political leadership to King Victor Emmanuel?

Why did Garibaldi give up his political leadership to the king?

Because in his thoughts, inspired by the Risorgimento's ideals, the real goal to score would be the unification of Italy and when the King of Regno di Sardegna ( Kingdom of Piedmont) appeared in all of Italian minds the unification factor, Garibaldi decided to give him up and to offer the sovereignty of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies to him to complete the unification of Italy.
