3X + 3 = 72
3X = 69
X = 23, the smallest number
The average of three consecutive numbers will always be the middle number
(3X+3)/3 = X+1
Therefore, you can always find the middle number by simply dividing the sum by 3 and then add 1 and subtract 1
72/3 = 24
so my numbers are 23, 24, 25
