A mettallurgist has an alloy with 15% titanium and an alloy with 30% titanium he needs 100 grams of an alloy with 24% titanium

Let x = amount of 15% titanium and 100-x = amount of 30% titanium

.15x + .3(100-x) = .24(100)

 

30 - .15x = 24

 

x = -6/-.15 = 40g of 15% titanium and 60g of 30% titanium
