A math club has 40 members. The number of girls is 5 less than 2 times the number of boys. How many members are boys? How many members are girls?

This has to do with systems  linear equations. Don't understand. Please help as soon as possible.

b + g = 40

g = 2b - 5

 

b + 2b - 5 = 40

3b = 45

b = 15

 

g = 2(15) - 5 = 25

 

25 girls and 15 boys!
