Evaluate the definite integral exactly using the Fundamental Theorem.

Question

EX: ∫1 to 9  (1/w) dw

So I have a few problems left that have this notation. I looked in my book and it doesn't describe what it means. What exactly does it want me to do, because I submitted the integration and that got marked wrong so I am a bit confused.

∫₁⁹ (1/w) dw = ln9 - ln1 = ln9 - 0 = ln9

I am not sure either what they mean by "using the Fundamental Theorem."

The indefinite integral is ln(w).  So the definite integral is

 

ln(9) - ln(1)
