The length of a rectangle is 15 feet more than three times its width. The perimeter is 94 feet. What is the area of the rectangle?

94 ft. = 2 L + 2 W

 

47 = L + W

 

width = W and length = 3W + 15

 

W + 3W + 15 = 47

    

       4W + 15 = 47

 

               4W = 32

 

                 W = 8

 

width is 8 and length is 39

 

Area = length times width

 

Area = 39 (8)

 

Area = 312
