This problem looks like an compound inequality (OR) problem. The solution set is {x|x < -3 OR x ≥ 5}.
For graphing this on number line put an open circle on -3 because the inequality is <. Shade the real numbers less than -3. Next, put a closed circle on 5 because the inequality is ≥. Shade the numbers greater than equal to 5. Open circle means that 3 is not included in the answer and closed circle means 5 is incuded in the answer. In case of OR compound inequality if either inequality is TRUE then the whole inequality is TRUE.
