Hi Emma!
First distribute the 2/3, so the left side of the = sign becomes 6x - 4. (Because two thirds of 9x is 6x, and two thirds of 6 is 4.)
So now you have 6x - 4 = 4x + 1.
Combine terms to get 6x = 4x + 5.
Combine again to get 2x = 5.
Divide by 2 to get x = 2.5
Plug 2.5 back in to the equation, and both sidexz equal 11. Since the sides are equal, you know the solution works!
