A is 1.7x10⁵ and B is 9.6x10⁴ and C is 8.1x10⁴.  You can combine them when A is written as 17x10⁴ (same value as 1.7x10⁵).  Total mass is (17+9.6+8.1)x10⁴ = 34.7x10⁴ = 3.47x10⁵ or 347,000 (answer a).  The difference of A (17x10⁴) and B (9.6x10⁴) is (17-9.6)x10⁴ = 7.4x10⁴ or 74,000 (answer b). The difference of B and C is
(9.6-8.1)x10⁴ = 1.5x10⁴ or 15,000 (answer c).
