Let x = price of potatoes
(x + .10) = price of carrots

5(x + .10) + 7x = 4.10
5x + 0.5 + 7x = 4.10
12x + 0.5 = 4.10
12x = 3.60
x = 0.30 or 30 cents, the price of potatoes

That means carrots cost 0.30 + 0.10 = 0.40 or 40 cents
