If you start with what Kenneth showed, you then use the distributive property to expand 5(n+5)=80 and you'll get 5n+25=80. You then subtract 25 from both sides to get rid of it. You will end up with 5n=55, because 80-25=55. Finally, you divide both sides by 5 to get the "n" alone. 55 divided by 5=11. You can check your answer by substituting 11 for "n" back into the original equation.
