Note that 15 is a common factor of 15 and 45:
15 = 1 x 15
45 = 3 x 15
So you can write 15 + 45 as
15 + 45 = 15 + (15 x 3)
Factor out the 15 and get
15 + 45 = 15 (1 + 3)
