height = CD - AB = 5-3 =2
base = BC = 6
AD = hypotenuse = √(22 + 62) = √40 = 2√10
The hypotenuse is the shortest path from A to D, but it does not match any of your choices. Did you mean (c) to 2√10 ?

If AB is on the opposite side of BC, then the right triangle becomes:
height = AB+CD = 3+5 = 8
base = BC = 6
hypotenuse = AD = √(82+62) = 10, which is answer (d).
