You can use the same strategy for all four problems that you posted.
1. Set up variables. Usually let x represent whatever follows "as" if there is a comparison. In this case you have "Brandon owns 4 times as many soccer cards as Paul.
Let x=# of cards Paul owns. Let 4x = # of cards Brandon owns
2. Write expressions/equations that show relationships in the problem.
You are given that Brandon owns 36 cards, so 4x = 36.
3. Isolate your variable and solve.
4x = 36 I think this equation is good for what is asked. You don't need to solve but I did below.
4x/4 = 36/4
x = 9
4. Use the same approach with your other problems.
