Starting with 36y^2-49(x+1)

 

The first thing I would do is get rid of the parenthesis:  36y^2 - 49x - 49

 

The factors of 36 are 2*2*3*3

The factors of 49 are 7*7

 

There are no common numerical factors between 36 and 49

 

None of the terms have common variables

 

There is not a common factor for all three terms so 36y^2 - 49x - 49 is your answer

The given expression is not factorable.

 

Did you mean 36y² - 49(x+1)²?

 

If so, 36y² - 49(x+1)² = (6y)² - (7(x+1))²

 

                               = (6y + 7(x+1))(6y - 7(x+1))

 

                               = (6y+7x+7)(6y-7x-7)
