my petrol tank was a quarter full when i pull into the petrol station i put £22.50 worth of petrol and noticed that the tank was now two thirds full the cost was £1.20 per litre what is the capacity of the petrol tank

so you put 22.50/1.20 = 18.75 lit petrol

 

1/4 x + 18.75 = 2/3 x 

 

2/3x -1/4x =18.75

 

5/12 x = 18.75

 

x = 45 liter

 

capacity of petrol tank=x lit=45 liter
