Sounds to me like Carla and Frank work independently ("each"). So, they each can do 1/2 the job in 1 hour.

 

This results in (include Missy):

   (1/2)x + (1/2)x + (1/3)x = 1

    3x + 3x + 2x = 6              [LCM=6]

     8x = 6

      x = 3/4 hours

Assuming Carla and Frank are a team,

in one hour they do 1/2 of the job.

In x hours they do x/2 of the job.

Likewise Missy does x/3 of the job

 

x/2 + x/3 = 1

3x + 2x = 6      multiply both sides by 6, LCD

5x = 6
