a length of edging measuring 7080cm. They have given you the following
specifications: side one is twice the length of side two less 21cm and side three
is 4cm longer than two thirds of side one. How long is each side if you are to use
the exact length of edging supplied.

if length of side two is x

the length of side one is 2x - 21, 

side three is 2/3 (2x - 21) + 4

 

x + (2x - 21) + (2/3 (2x - 21) + 4) = 7080

 

x + 2x + 4/3x - 21 - 2/3 * 21 + 4 = 7080

 

                                        13/ 3x = 7080 + 21 + 14 - 4 

                                                x = 1641

 

2x - 21 = 2 * 1641 - 21 = 3261

 

2/3 (2x - 21) + 4 = 2/3 (2 * 1641 - 21) + 4 = 2178

 

side one is 3261 cm, side two is 1641 cm, side three is 2178 cm
