The civilizations of ancient Mesopotamia believed in many deities. Among the Babylonians, Marduk was a prominent deity. Among the Assyrians, Ashur and Nisroch were worshiped widely, among others. The goddess Ishtar was also prominent among ancient Mesopotamian civilizations. But there were many gods and goddesses in the pantheons of Mesopotamia, probably hundreds.
