M( I don't have a compass or a protractor at the moment, and this lesson we needed one to answer the questions so therefore, I can't answer the question at the moment. Thank you to whoever helps me in any way. God bless)
PLZ either get a compass or get a substitute (like string, pin, and pencil).
Given a segment with endpoints A and B, what figure can you construct using the steps below?
Either points A and B are provided to you on a worksheet or else you may just make two points A and B.
Step 1: Put the compass point on A and draw a long arc. Be sure the opening is greater than 1/2 AB.
Select a fixed-length arc. The reason that it is greater than (1/2)AB is that the arcs must intersect when point B is the center later.
Step 2: With the compass on the same setting, put the compass point on B and draw another long arc. Label the points where the two arcs meet as X and Y.
The points A and B are centers of two circles. The "long arcs" intersect twice -- one intersection on each side of line segment AB. These intersections are points X and Y.
Step 3: Draw line XY. Label the point of intersection of segment AB and line XY as M, the midpoint of segment AB.
The line segment XY goes across the line segment AB. It crosses at midpoint M. You should realize that point M is the midpoint because the same arc length was used for AX and BX and again for AY and BY (note: that length is the hypotenuse of right triangles with sides on AB and on XY). So, we know that every point on the line extended from segment XY is equidistant from point A and from point B (note: line segments AB and XY now form "the line of points that form right triangles" with point A and X or else with B and Y).

Now, review the definitions of all the possible answers (you should learn them all). Look at the line segments AB and XY. Which figure did you draw?
