Area = w(2w-3) = 27. Distribute, put all terms on one side of equatilon (with appropriate signs), and solve, either by factoring or use of quadratic formula. Check your answers. (One might be 'extraneous')

If you were to follow my suggestion, you'd solve for width (w) AND THEN THE LENGTH WOULD FOLLOW, from length is 2w - 3.
