Please help it's a maths question

My manager has asked me to use 400kg worth of ingredients. Those ingredients are divided as follows: 190 kg chicken, 115 kg eggs, 95kg sugar. 10 minutes later, my manager informed me that the total of ingredients has been changed from 400kg to 280kg. How am I going to change the figures for chicken, eggs and sugar in order to be equal and add up to 280kg as the previous example when the total was 400kg? If I'm making sense then please someone answer the question and tell me how to work it out. Thanks

So you want your ingredients to be at the same proportion of the recipe.  Originally that was:

Chicken: 190/400 = .475
Eggs: 115/400 = .2875
Sugar: 95/400 = .2375

So we need the same proportions for 280 kg now.  You can get that by multiplying those percentages by 280:

Chicken: 280 * .475 = 133
Eggs: 280 * .2875 = 80.5
Sugar: .2375 * 280 = 66.5

A faster way to solve it would be to multiply the original amounts by the proportional difference of the two recipes:

Chicken: 190 * (280/400) = 133
Eggs: 115 * (280/400) = 80.5
Sugar: 95 * (280/400) = 66.5
