For all who care, a perfect square is the square of a nonnegative integer.  I could add 0 and 1 to the start of my list.

A square number, or sometimes called a "perfect square" (do imperfect ones exist?) is the square of an integer. Integers are defined as the whole numbers and their additive inverses - that's the same as the negatives.
