Definite integral is calculated as follows:

∫f(x)dx from a to b= F(x)| from a to b = F(b)-F(a)

where F(x) is the Anti-derivative of f(x)

so in you case ∫cosxdx from a to b= sin x | a to b = sin(b)-sin(a)
