asked 06/29/16URGENT: Geometric Word Problem
Two bikers meet at a park. Biker A needs to stop at the store that is 14 miles east of the park. Biker B heads southeast at a 60 degree angle at the same time for 33 miles. Once biker A leaves the store he heads southwest at an angle of 80 degrees for 20 miles.
a. Use your knowledge of triangles to figure out if the two bikers will be able to meet up if each biker travels the distance given.
b. If they do not meet up, how much farther would one of the bikers have to travel to meet the other?
c. what is the measure of the angle between the bikers?
d. what is the relationship between the measure of the angles and the paths the bikers took?
e. Classify the triangle the paths created.
f. How many miles did they travel together?

Your answer was correct, namely the two bikers will not, and cannot meet given the directions in the problem. That conclusion is clear because the statement of 80o southwest is almost a complete reversal of the original direction, namely due East.
In order to help you, i have prepared a diagram which you can access using the following link:
https://www.wyzant.com/resources/my/index/files?filter=All
From the information in the diagram, you should be able to calculate the length of segment WB, which will give you the extra distance that biker A must travel to reach biker B.
The first triangle, ΔPSB, is a 30-60-90 right triangle. The second triangle, ΔWIB, is a scalene triangle, one angle of which is 110o. That figure was derived from the properties of intersecting lines.
If you need or want more help, please send me a message.

I can't see the diagram, can you please post a picture of it

I assume that your drawing has the following attributes. Segment PA is of length 14 mi and it runs horizontally (due East).
Segment AM has length x, and meets PA at an 80o angle.
Segment PB has length 33 mi, and makes angle BPA = 60o, and point B is somewhat below horizontal line PA.
I'd use the law of Cosines to calculate the distance AB and then compare it to the given 20 miles. If this 20 mi is less than the calculated AB, then the difference is "how much farther biker A who stopped at the store has to go to get to the other biker."
