Hi Jose,
First, we need to know how many doublings will occur by determining how many times 72 can fit into 144.
144/72 = 2
So that means that the town's population will double twice.
Let's take this one doubling at a time.
After the first 72 years, the population of 7,000 will go to 14,000 (we found this out by multiplying 7000*2).
Now the population is 14,000, and we have another 72 years to go.
