lne6x = 42
 
One of the properties of logarithms is that you can make the power a front-multiplying coefficient. So, you can write:
 
6x lne = 42
 
Of course, lne = 1
 
So, 6x = 42
 
Or x = 7

When looking at ln ... that is loge
ln(en) is asking quite simply... "To what power do I raise "e" to get en ?
Thus ln en = n
ln e6x = 6x
 
Thus if:  ln e6x = 42   then   6x = 42 and x=7
