The way that you wrote the equation, is left side must be, according to order of operations, ¾(x+8).
Multiply both sides by 4, then you have 3(x+8) = 4(x+1) and I assume that you can take it from there.
If, however, the left side's denominator is 4(x+8), then you'll obtain a quadratic equation to solve.
